Step 1: Use heavy-duty cleaner on your sink
Clean your sink with a heavy-duty cleaner made especially for getting rid of lime scale. Cleaners are available at your local home, hardware, or tile store. Wear rubber gloves and follow the instructions on the label -- always a good idea when working with chemicals.

Step 2: Remove lime deposit on faucets
Get rid of the lime deposits on your faucets by soaking paper towel with white vinegar and covering the faucets with the paper towel. Let it sit for an hour before removing.

Step 3: Clean out the shower head
Open a clogged shower head by first removing the head. Then fill a bucket with enough vinegar to cover the showerhead and let it soak overnight. Rinse it off and reattach it the next day.

Step 4: Clean the toilet
Get rid of the lime scale in your toilet. Drain the toilet bowl and then pour in a solution of half vinegar and half borax. Leave it for two hours before scrubbing the bowl with a toilet brush.

Tip
Add three cups of undiluted white vinegar to your full toilet bowl and scrub it clean. Vinegar can also act as a preventative by pouring some into your toilet tank.

Step 5: Use spray bottle for problem areas
Fill a spray bottle with 2 cups water and ½ cup vinegar. Spray on problem areas and let it sit for one hour before rinsing.

Step 6: Consider getting a water softener
Consider getting a water softener or having the one you have inspected. Hard water is the villain that causes the buildup of mineral deposits.
